Description of Service
Barestate aggregates and structures primary-source records published by federal disclosure systems — contract awards, lobbying filings, congressional financial reports, FEC filings, FARA registrations, and grant databases — and presents them in a searchable form.
The underlying records are public. Our compilation, structure, presentation, and code are not.
Acceptable Use
You may use the Service for research, journalism, accountability work, or your own curiosity. You may not:
- Scrape at volumes that degrade the Service for others
- Use the data to harass, defame, or surveil any individual
- Reproduce our compilation or presentation as if it were your own work
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data
Intellectual Property
Federal disclosure records are public-domain documents. We don't claim ownership of the underlying data. We do claim our compilation, normalization, structure, code, brand, and presentation. Don't republish those without permission.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is." We don't warrant that records are complete, current, or free of errors — they reflect what disclosure systems publish. We aren't liable for decisions made on the basis of records published here. Verify against the originating agency for anything that matters.

Termination
We may suspend or revoke access for users who violate these Terms or whose activity threatens the Service.
